Charlotte is one of the fastest developing regions of the country. At present it boasts of 167 schools and 132,000 students. However with such fast-paced growth it is indeed difficult for any other school to cope up with such a huge growth rate. Charlotte schools however are trying to deal with the problem from the front by hoping to maximize their level of achievement by the year 2010. The Character Education Programs are useful. There are some specific goals that Charlotte schools have in mind for the future which would help them fulfill their dream of maximizing achievement by the end of the year 2010 and the goals are outlined as the tacking the problem of shortage of teachers-One of the main aim of the schools is to help achieve student’s higher grades and this is not possible without the proper number of teachers. So the schools are hiring 1000 new teachers every year thereby hoping to fill up 99% of the teacher vacancies by 2010.
To achieve a high level of academic standard-the schools at Charlotte aim to have 95% of their students between grade three to eight score at par or more than the national average obtained at End of grade testing. Also the success in Advanced Parliament Exams will exceed the national average which is currently placed at sixty two percent. To provide a safe and hazard free learning environment-The schools believe that for the students to be able to achieve high academic standard and for this they plan that eighty percent of the charlotte schools will feel safe and they will get a score of 90% on the annual school safety audit. The Character Education Programs will help.
However it is now important to know how the schools decide to implement these objectives, and for that the schools have started a career education program which encourages student to be disciplined and lead a virtuous, social life. By stressing on values such as honesty ,respect, responsibility, determination coupled with an environment which encourages school attendance will, the school believes help it in realizing it’s goals. Also, service learning opportunities will help them compassion and towards others and also give them a platform to implement their learning in real life through Character Education Curriculum. At the same time as parents we must realize that charity begins at home and show them the correct path in life which will help them emerge as good individuals and allow charlotte schools to achieve their goals in the character education curriculum.
